Pennsylvania’s education system saw major changes in 2022 with the adoption new learning goals for grades K–12 known as the Science, Technology, Engineering, Environment Literacy and Sustainability (STEELS) standards. To prepare students for this shift in the classroom, education leaders are investing in their science programs by launching another year of work in the Pennsylvania Science Education Leaders (PennSEL) Network, a group of regional teams working to transform science teaching and learning across the commonwealth. The NextGenScience project at WestEd today announced the addition of seven new members to its Science Peer Review Panel (PRP) to continue its work evaluating lesson sequences and units designed for the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS). Since its launch in 2016 at Achieve, the Science PRP has reviewed over 350 science units and lessons and has shared 39 quality examples of science materials on nextgenscience.org.
